Inglewood Transit Connector (ITC) project has been granted a capital investment of $1 billion from the Federal Transit Administration of the Biden’s Government. This investment will cover half of the project’s budget as it has been targeted to open before the commencement of 2028 Olympics.

The site is located in the center of the city of Inglewood except for Market Street/Florence Avenue Station. The proposed path of the project is surrounded by commercial, recreational, residential and entertainment uses.

This people’s mover is a planned fully elevated, electrically powered automated transit system which would connect SoFi Stadium, Induit Dome and other venues to K Line Downtown Inglewood Station. The planners at Meridian Consultants state “The design and construction of the elevated guideway structures, stations and support facilities will avoid existing utility and other infrastructure to the degree possible. Some existing infrastructure along the transit alignment may need to be reconfigured or removed to accommodate new elevated transit guideway structures and stations. In addition to surface improvements, some existing utility infrastructure may need to be relocated to accommodate the guideway columns and foundations.”

Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts states “This is a good day for the people of Inglewood and the entire region. By signaling their commitment to invest significantly in our project, the federal government is recognizing the importance of providing better transportation options for our residents and to everyone in our region who wants to work and visit our city and its outstanding sports, entertainment, and commercial facilities”.

“We owe a debt of gratitude not only to the Biden Administration but also to US Senator Alex Padilla, the late Senator Dianne Feinstein, USDOT and FTA leadership, as well as Governor Newson, Assemblywoman Tina McKinnor and other State and local partners.  I want to acknowledge the Metro Board of Directors, CEO Stephanie Wiggins, Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles, the County Board of Supervisors and my fellow mayors across the South Bay. We have collectively aligned around one goal – making sure those coming and going to Inglewood have the optimal experience through a modern transit solution that serves fans, employees, visitors and residents alike.”
