A mega development project is under the pipeline as per the initiative brief published by the City of Pico Rivera. It primarily focuses on a BRT along Rosemead/Lakewood Boulevard and a new commuter rail station in Downtown Pico Rivera part of the LA-to-Anaheim commuter rail corridor.
Commuter Rail Corridor (LA-to-Anaheim)
The rail corridor is one of several transportation elements, including the extension of Metro’s Eastside Gold Line, a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system along Rosemead/Lakewood Boulevard, and a network of parks, trails, and pathways for active transportation. These amenities will connect to the Rio Hondo and the San Gabriel River Class-I bikeways, enhancing the area’s accessibility.
Moreover, there is an intercity commuter rail corridor that links Los Angeles Union Station (LAUS) to the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), served by three commuter railroads: Metrolink, Amtrak, and eventually, California High-Speed Rail. Metro has initiated a feasibility study and strategic plan to establish a new commuter rail station in Downtown Pico Rivera.
