A development application has been lodged by Bright Star Schools for a public charter elementary school, located at 15526 and 15544 West Plummer Street, Los Angeles.
The site is currently improved by a single family house, which will be retained and incorporated into the school development. The site has frontage to Plummer Street.
Designed by Berliner Architects, the proposal shall incorporate a public charter elementary school for Valor Academy, for Transitional Kindergarten to Fourth grade students. The proposed school has 28 classrooms and a maximum enrollment of 552.

The proposal has 49 car parking spaces comprising 17 standard and 21 compact parking spaces. The proposal also has parking space for Van, EVCs, short term and long term bicycle parking spaces. Vehicular access to the site is obtained via Plummer on the West portion of the Site. The proposal also has a very long driveway that leads to the parking at the rear side.
The planners state “Bright Star’s mission is “to provide holistic, inclusive support for all students to achieve academic excellence and grow their unique talents so that they find joy and fulfillment in higher education, career, and life.”
The proposal has a proposed area of 36,157 GSF over a development site of 89,629.2 SF.
