Jason Oppenheim, the star of Netflix’s hit reality series Selling Sunset and Selling the OC, recently swapped the glitz of Los Angeles for the sunny Gold Coast of Australia.
The luxury real estate mogul took a closer look at the Gold Coast region’s high-end property market while on holiday, dubbing it a “hidden gem”. Mr Oppenheim outlined that homes on the Gold Coast are priced at nearly 60% less than in California.
The 47-year-old, who owns the Oppenheim Group alongside his twin brother Brett, toured two remarkable properties guided by Kollosche Realty’s managing director, Michael Kollosche, agents Jamie Harrison, and Matthew Follent.
RealEstate.com reported the tour, outlining that Jason Oppenheim was on holiday on the Gold Coast and wanted to understand the city’s real estate market further and inspect high-end homes.
“He reached out to Michael (Kollosche) through a mutual contact,” Mr Harrison said.
“Once he saw what you could get here, he was very impressed.
“The Gold Coast represents amazing value in comparison to Los Angeles and other parts of the States”, stated Oppenheim.
Mr Harrison said he spent under an hour showing Oppenheim the tour of luxury, a sprawling riverfront mansion designed by BGD Architects, located at 8 Southern Cross Drive, Cronin Island, Surfers Paradise.
The mansion estate, set on a triple block spanning an expansive 2,221 sqm, combines Hollywood Hills-style grandeur with breathtaking views of the Surfers Paradise skyline and main river.
“This property is coming to market in the next week and the big thing with it is it’s a Hollywood Hills-style home.
“To get a home of this scale and proportion is obviously a rare find on the Gold Coast.
“He (Oppenheim) was really grateful to us for showing him through”, Oppenheim stated.
“We also took the opportunity to discuss the real estate landscape in the Gold Coast, Australia and the US and share insights on the different markets,” Mr Kollosche posted on Instagram with Jason Oppenheim.
“In summary with the lifestyle, quality of homes and climate, Jason thought we were selling GC real estate at a 60 per cent discount to the US and that the Gold Coast is a hidden gem.”
