The countdown to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games is officially on, and excitement is building! On April 15, 2025, the LA28 organizing committee unveiled an updated and comprehensive venue plan, giving us a clearer picture of where the world’s best athletes will compete. This announcement showcases a fantastic mix of iconic Los Angeles landmarks and state-of-the-art facilities, promising an unforgettable experience for both athletes and fans.

The plan strategically utilizes existing and temporary venues across the Los Angeles region and beyond, staying true to the principles of sustainability and smart resource management. Here are some of the highlights from the announced venues:

  • Downtown LA Takes Center Stage: The heart of the city will be buzzing with Olympic action. The legendary Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will once again host athletics, making history as the first stadium to host three different Olympiads. Nearby, BMO Stadium will host flag football and lacrosse sixes , while the Crypto.com Arena will be the place to catch boxing finals and gymnastics.
  • Hollywood Glamour Meets Olympic Spirit: In a unique twist, squash will make its Olympic debut at the Universal Studios Lot, specifically on Courthouse Square – a familiar backdrop from iconic movies. Talk about a memorable setting
  • Beach Vibes and Athletic Feats: Get ready for sun, sand, and incredible competition! Triathlon is moving to the iconic Venice Beach, which will also be the starting point for the marathon and cycling road race. Beach volleyball will find its new home at Alamitos Beach in Long Beach , joining other water sports like coastal rowing and open water swimming at the Long Beach Waterfront.
  •
Iconic Stadiums Return: Baseball is back at the Olympics, and where better to host it than the legendary Dodger Stadium. This iconic venue also hosted baseball during the 1984 Games, adding another layer of history to the event.
  • New Sports Find Their Homes: Cricket, returning to the Olympics after over a century, will be played at a purpose-built temporary facility at the Fairplex in Pomona. This highlights the commitment to accommodating new sports in exciting ways.

A Region-Wide Celebration
The announced venues span across the Greater Los Angeles area and even extend to Oklahoma City for softball and canoe slalom. This regional approach means that communities throughout Southern California will have the opportunity to be part of the Olympic experience.
